48 Posture Taijiquan requires that students have previously studied and completed 24 Posture Taijiquan. These instructions assume SOUTH as the starting direction.

Movements:

Figure 5-63: Step back with your left foot. At the same time, lower your left palm down next to your body and lift your right palm up to head level.

Figure 5-64: Turn 135 degrees to your left, by pivoting on the heel of your right foot and the ball of your left foot. At the same time, bend your elbow and bring your right palm next to your right ear.

Figure 5-65: Take a small step forward with your left foot and shift most of your weight on it. Right foot follows up with a small step, touching down on the ball of your foot. At the same time, thrust your right palm forward and bring your left palm next to your waist. (Step Northwest)

Figure 5-66: Turn to your back, by pivoting on the ball of your right foot and the heel of your left foot. At the same time, bring your right palm next to your body and lift your left palm up to eye level with your elbow bent.

Figure 5-67: Take a small step forward with your right foot and shift most of your weight on it. Left foot follows up with a small step, touching down on the ball of your foot. At the same time, thrust your left palm forward and bring your right palm next to your waist. (Step Southeast)
